The Role of Veterinarians in Emergency Preparedness: Foreign and Emerging Animal Diseases (FEADs)

Program Description:
Anthrax, West Nile Virus, Avian Influenza: These diseases are in the headlines at the forefront of preparedness training, but many other diseases threaten our globalized society. Veterinarians, as intermediaries of the world of agriculture, animals and humans, play a critical role in awareness and protection of the public health from these potentially emerging diseases.

Objectives:
At the conclusion of the presentation, the participants will be able to:

  1. Recognize foreign emerging animal diseases.
  2. Understand the role of veterinarians in the protection of communities.
